Our Vision, Mandate and Objectives

Vision

Genoma España's vision is to change Spain’s current economic model for one in which technology transfer contributes decisively to technology development activities; in turn, the latter becomes innovation applied not only to traditional production systems but to emerging technologies as well.

Mandate

Our mandate is to proactively:

  • Facilitate technology transfer by ensuring intellectual property protection and knowledge enhancement;
  • Support the creation and promotion of (bio-)technology-based companies; and
  • Generate technology innovation programmes for the traditional production systems aligned with the strategic areas of the Spanish R&D plan.

In order to achieve our mandate, we carry out the following:

  • Direct our programmes to development processes and technology transfer; and
  • Extend our scope of activities beyond biotechnology to encompass other fields such as health, renewable energies, ICT, materials and nanotechnology.

Objectives

The objectives of Genoma España are the following:

  • Create programmes and active policies for innovation;
  • Contribute to the internationalization of technology sectors aligned with the strategic areas of the Spanish R&D plan with special relevance to biotechnology;
  • Enhance knowledge and technology transfer processes from public universities, research and technology centres to business; and
  • Encourage public-private cooperation and partnerships to ensure compliance with the above objectives.
