During 2009, Genoma España's mission and objectives have changed.  The Foundation focuses on technology and innovation transfer activities.   R&D projects and S&T platforms will be no longer supported by Genoma España.  Instead, for example, the latter will be managed by the Carlos III Health Institute.   Nevertheless, the InnoCash programme will be managed and technology transfer activities will be increased.

Evolution of Genoma España's Resources (2002-2009)

The 2009 governmental-decrees regarding shoestring budget cuts have reduced in 50% the ministerial contributions to Genoma España from 11M € to 4.9 M €.  For 2010 only 6 million euros is forecasted.  Taking into account that 5.3M € provided by the ministry for science and innovation by way of the FECYT go to the InnoCash programme, contributions recover the value of 10.2M €.

Our revenue mainly comes from: public-private R&D projects; monetary contributions made by the private sector members of our board of trustees, funds recovered by our financial unit and the commercialization of our technology portfolio.  Since no future RFA will be launched our revenues decrease to 2.43M€.

The mobilized funds contribute resources to our R&D projects, to the S&T platforms (8.47M € in 2009) and to our current technology portfolio.

However, considering that the 2009 InnoCash programme resources have been much greater since the ministry for science and innovation has provided 6 million euros out of which 5.3M € were awarded to Innocash projects, these projects have mobilized 18.3M € from external resources.  In addition, Genoma España has collaborated with the FECYT in the promotion and award of the RFA for project valorization experts.  In total, mobilized funds have reached 18.33 M € in 2009.  For every euro that the Ministry has contributed the Foundation has mobilized 2.8 €.
