Spanish biotechnology

 



Since 2005, Genoma España Foundation has been issuing the report Relevance of Biotechnology in Spain on a biennial basis. This document, by performing an analysis of those data available for each period since 2000, has addressed a number of key issues regarding the current situation and future of biotechnology in Spain. The report published in 2005 pointed out the significant role that this new technology sector could play in boosting the Spanish economy and promoting Spaniards’ welfare.

 

Informe Relevancia de la BIotecnología en España 2011

In December 2011, Genoma España presented its latest report Relevance of Biotechnology in Spain 2011, which analyzed the present of Spanish biotechnology and its prospects for the future compared with neighbouring countries.  To properly understand and analyze the impact of biotechnology on Spain, data are grouped into five different areas, ranging from generation of scientific knowledge to clinical practice, not to mention the economic and business relevance of this new sector.
